Sock Hwee through to Victorian Women’s Amateur Final

Academy student Koh Sock Hwee has played her way into the Final of the 2014 Victorian Women’s Amateur Championship!

After qualifying in sixth position at the Port Phillip Amateur, Sock Hwee joined the leading 16 female golfers who would fight it out for the Vic Amateur title. Sock Hwee began her matchplay campaign with a commanding win over Vanessa Bouvet 6&4. Sock Hwee then defeated Metropolitan Golf Club’s Grace Daniell 3&2 in their quarter-final match. Sock Hwee continued her great play in the semi-final with yet another 3&2 victory, this time over Celina Yuan from The Australian Golf Club in Sydney.

Sock Hwee’s opponent in the 36-hole final will be Shelly Shin representing Concord Golf Club.  Shin, Australia’s no.1 ranked women’s amateur golfer eased her way through the opening round with a 7&5 victory over Stephanie Bunque. Shin then defeated Glenelg’s Jenny Lee 2&1 in their quarter-final match before outlasting Victorian Women’s State Team Captain Jo Charlton from Metropolitan 1up in a close semi-final battle.
